Steamboat Post

Card 1

“This is the steamer I went to Skaneateles on yesterday; it is 1 1/2 hrs ride on the steamer from our Kottage; this is my address: Kill Kare Kottage, Carpenter’s Point, Schaneateles Lake, NY.  Am having a lovely time. Nellie C.”

Card 2

The City of Syracuse steamboat was owned by the railroad, and had its own postal clerk, and hence was a part of the Railway Post Office. The “Skaneateles Lake RPO” postmark indicates that this card was mailed on the steamboat or given to the steamboat to be posted when it stopped at Carpenter’s Point.
